Tea Meditation with Venerable SooSeong Sunim | Fridays, 7-8:30pm (https://www.nomadicmonk.org/about-1)

In this serene gathering, tea becomes both offering and teaching. Each session includes a guided meditation followed by a Dharma talk and freeform Q&A in English with our season guest, Venerable SooSeong.

Qigong | Saturdays, 9:30-10:30am

Rooted in ancient movement and breathing traditions, this class - led by SK at Central Park - invites participants to harmonize body and mind through both static and flowing exercises.
Qigong (Korean Taichi) is a traditional Korean martial art, great for cultivating inner energy (Chi), enhancing physical strength and flexibility, and promoting mental clarity through meditative movement.

Korean Language | Saturdays, 3-4pm

Language can also be a meaningful medium through which we can connect more deeply with the living tradition of Korean Zen and the community that carries it. In this new class format, taught by Noel, students are introduced to Korean through everyday expressions, as well as glimpses into Buddhist and temple life.

Korea Buddhism Jo-Gei Temple of America (NY Jogei Temple)

The Korea Buddhism Jo-Gei Temple of America (also known as Chogyesa and NY Jogei Temple) is a Korean Buddhist Temple dedicated to providing Seon (known as Chan in Chinese and Zen in Japanese) meditation practices and teachings across the Tri-State area. Our Temple is conveniently located in the Upper West Side and serves as a Buddhist Sanctuary for the local Manhattan community. We are happy to host visitors from all walks of life interested in learning about Seon Buddhism as we aspire to serve as a multicultural center that allows our community to meditate, chant, share meals and practice as one big family. Welcome to Chogyesa!

Also, dear community: Chogyesa was first established in 1985, later moved out to Queens, and returned to Manhattan 22 years ago. Since then, it has been a home for Korean Buddhist tradition, meditation, food, and friendship here in New York City. This home, like any, needs care. From sharing meals to maintaining the space, it takes many hands and open hearts to sustain it. Though our temple building itself is more than 110 years old, our community has filled it with practice, culture, and connection — and we invite you to join in that practice.

Your contribution—whether a financial donation or a few hours of volunteer time—helps keep the temple alive for all who enter. Even $5 makes a difference, and larger gifts go further in spreading the Dharma, building positive karma, and bringing peace to a noisy world.

Together we can ensure this temple remains a welcoming refuge for generations to come.
